Tomorrow’s BIM Manager Leaders

The title of BIM Manager is a particularly ambiguous one. There are two kinds of BIM Managers in our industry today: the BIM Project Manager and the BIM Manager Specialist.

Independent of any trade, the BIM Project Manager has an administrative role in which he is responsible for setting goals, demands, and requirements. Furthermore, he oversees all contractual obligations associated with BIM and working arrangements with all parties concerned in the construction process. This includes drafting a BIM protocol and/or BIM implementation plan.

The BIM Project Manager operates on a strategic, tactical, and operational level to bring different parties together and encourage them to collaborate during the entire project. He guides and monitors the BIM processes during the project organization and throughout the entire construction chain.

The BIM Project manager may have to manage a team of BIM Coordinators and BIM Technicians.
