Tomorrow’s BIM Technician
This role could be considered an evolved CAD drafting position to suit a BIM technology environment. The BIM Technician (or BIM Modeler) is a skilled BIM software modeling expert with firm understanding of his specific design discipline. He must be able to understand not only how a building comes together, but how it can be modeled accurately in a BIM environment and create a “digital twin.”
Additionally, he must know how to implement information correctly for future simulation, to fulfill project BIM objectives. This program will also allow students to access a Junior BIM Content Manager role.
This role provides a base level for multiple career paths, most likely toward BIM Coordinator and then BIM Manager if the individual wishes to progress in the industry.
